"I think very highly of Jess and I am very grateful that her coaching services were recommended to me. After taking a leave of absence and starting university again this September, all of my fears and insecurities returned. I came to coaching seeking help with executive function and study skills, but I’ve found that Jess provides so much more than that. Jess’s coaching sessions have really been a lifeline in a very busy year for me while also navigating a new journey of self-discovery in ADHD assessment.
I felt really comfortable with Jess straight away. I’ve told her things that I haven’t said to anybody else. It’s such a relief to be able to speak without fear of judgement. Jess is always so encouraging, interested, and highlights positives that I may have overlooked. I just feel she really cares about me as a person. I feel validated and heard.
So far, I have learnt more about how to advocate for my needs, at work, in family relationships and with university lecturers. I already feel so much more accepting of myself and I’m starting to see benefits in all these areas.
We’ve also discussed study skills and ways to better manage in my workplace. Jess is very knowledgeable about ADHD and executive function skills and can tailor this knowledge to my specific needs. She really goes the extra mile for her clients and has provided resources advice on, for example, university accommodations and other research related to what we’ve discussed.
I find her summary of the session really helpful to read afterwards, to remind me of what we talked about and so all the information is in one place. She also messages me between sessions, to check in.
I would highly recommend Jess to anyone looking for a dedicated and experienced coach."

Introducing Normal Schmormal’s 10-Week Skills Development pilot program! This program is designed for high-school and college level learners (of any age) who need more hands-on support and a deeper dive into the executive skills necessary for academic success.
Learn crucial skills like:
How to “backwards plan”
WHY? Helps us better identify the smaller tasks within larger tasks (like projects, appointments, and events, among other things); plus how to order and prioritize each task and schedule them for when we actually need to do them.
Estimating how much time your tasks and weekly assignments really take
WHY? One of the biggest challenges for folks with executive skills impairments is KNOWING HOW TO KNOW how long tasks and events actually take! This program will help you learn when to begin tasks and start before it’s too late. This skill can also reduce lateness, cramming and crunching, and general freakouts that many of us experience all too regularly.
Planning accordingly and more effectively!
WHY? Learning to plan more accurately leads to more time back for you, doing what you need to do and getting better results.
Block scheduling and color coding: How to use correctly (and keep using)
WHY? This kind of scheduling helps us visualize how much time tasks actually literally take up in our days, to help us better understand what we can commit to and when we need to say no. Helps for creating and reserving enough time to start and complete important tasks on time (among other things).
Reducing (and recovering from) distractions
WHY? Because distractions are EVERYWHERE, are sometimes VERY distracty, and can cause total chaos in our lives - if we don’t learn how to manage them better!
Reading retention, studying tips, and more
WHY? Most educational programs have built in systems to understand and track learning progress. This means tests and projects are common factors. Whether we’re preparing for open-book or closed-book tests, strong information retention skills are huge. There are specific ways those of us with executive function challenges often need to learn these skills and that’s what you’ll get in this program.
Sessions and content designed and delivered in an ADHD-centered format.
Learn, practice, apply immediately to real life!
All under the structured guidance of a passionate and seasoned Executive Skills and Academic Success Coach - who also has ADHD and understands executive skills challenges.
Doesn’t get much better than that!

HOW DID THIS PROGRAM COME ABOUT?
Before officially starting Normal Schmormal Coaching in 2022, I was an Academic Success Coach for many years. I worked specifically with college students who were placed on academic probation or dismissed, and needed additional specialized support to complete their studies and graduate.
From 2009 to 2022, I coached hundreds of college students and helped them return to good academic standing. I did this by heavily prioritizing executive (cognitive) skills that are necessary for college students of all ages and stages of life!
These days I coach all kinds of folks wanting to make better friends with their neurodivergent brains, and I’ve witnessed the power of executive skills coaching over time. However, the life of a college student flows much differently than many other types of folks that I support. For most, life tends to feel like an endless series of fast-paced, high-stakes cycles with little time to rest. And when something starts to slip, it can easily create a snowball effect that can be hard to stop.
In my experience, struggling students (and those who want to avoid a potential avalanche in the first place), tend to benefit from more drilled down, highly structured, individualized, executive skills development. They also need ample time to practice these skills in a controlled and supportive environment.
This new recurring program provides small cohorts of neurodivergent college students in a fun, shame-free accountability-driven environment, on all the common real-life academic challenges.
Created specifically for learners and students of highschool age and above.
