Before officially starting Normal Schmormal Coaching in 2022, I was an Academic Success Coach for many years. I worked specifically with college students who were placed on academic probation or dismissed, and needed additional specialized support to complete their studies and graduate. From 2009 to 2022, I coached hundreds of college students and helped them return to good academic standing. I did this by heavily prioritizing executive (cognitive) skills that are necessary for college students of all ages and stages of life!
These days I coach all kinds of folks wanting to make better friends with their neurodivergent brains, and I’ve witnessed the power of executive skills coaching over time. However, the life of a college student flows much differently than many other types of folks that I support. For most, life tends to feel like an endless series of fast-paced, high-stakes cycles with little time to rest. And when something starts to slip, it can easily create a snowball effect that can be hard to stop.
In my experience, struggling students (and those who want to avoid a potential avalanche in the first place), tend to benefit from more drilled down, highly structured, week-in-term-specific executive skills development. They also need ample time to practice these skills in a controlled and supportive environment. This new recurring program provides small cohorts of neurodivergent college students in a fun, shame-free accountability-driven environment, on all the common real-life academic challenges. All this under the structured guidance of a highly experienced coach.
This is why Normal Schmormal now offers this short-term affordable executive skills development program created specifically for learners and students of highschool age and above.
